I hope all f you had a happy and exciting new years - or at least stayed awake long enough to see yourselves into the new year. Colin and I for the first time in as long as I can remember had an evening out on new years which was wonderful.
We got a cab for downtown Sacramento which is Stunning. Palm tree lined streets, cobblestone streets, the State Capitol buildings, and the night life. We are going back to today so I can get some pictures. The mood was hard to describe - people walking everywhere, cheering and celebrating. More police you could ever imagine and in the middle they had all the streets closed off for a midnight display - lights etc. I wish you could capture the excitement on picture.
We walked around for about and hour and then had our meal - which as AMAZING!!!!!! the restaurant gave us champagne at midnight and we rang in the new year.
Then we tried to get home - OH DEAR! so trying to get a cab in Sacramento seems impossible, We stood on the street for about an hour and a half trying to hail a cab - finally we posed as guests of the Hyatt hotel and were able to get one. But to our surprise the cab driver had no idea where he was going, nor did he speak really any English. The only thing he knew to was "you want the 80" which is one of the freeways, he knew no other street names or exits etc. I was so worried we were going to end up in some unknown location trying to catch another cab or finally at home with not enough money to pay a cab who got lost a few times. Thank goodness for my small town farmer hubby who confidently directed the cab driver out of down town, on to two different freeways and back to the campground - who knew he was a little Garmin himself. Apparently we don't actually need the GPS. Anyway we were full of giddy laughter as we climbed back into the trailer that we (Colin) had to give the Sacramento cab driver specific directions -lol.
Well one last day in Sacramento today - down town is on the list not sure what else. Happy 2009 everyone!

Yay!! You have a blog! :) We can keep tabs on you!
Glad to hear you're having fun already. We wish we could have seen you before you left, but as we all know, the holidays are NUTS! We're thinking we'll just have to come on out and meet up with you some time before April. We should do Disneyland together!!!
Cheers & happy 09!
